Address: Harborne/Edgbaston

Contact: 07872 325739 | [email protected]

Schedule: Monday to Thursday 8:30AM–4:30PM | Friday 8:30AM–1:00PM

Founded by Katy Insley in 2019, yogabrum is best known for private one-to-one and corporate yoga classes in and around Birmingham.

Katy’s private classes focus on flexibility, mobility, and strength, with many clients using one-to-one yoga as a way to improve performance and recovery in sports such as golf, tennis, padel, and cycling. Private classes are enjoyed by men and women ranging in age from 35 to 80, and because classes are adapted to each client’s ability level and aspirations, they are able to get the most out of their practice.

Most clients book weekly classes, some attend twice weekly, and many have been taking private yoga classes for more than five years. Classes are offered in the client’s home if they are located in or near Harborne or Edgbaston; otherwise, sessions are available online via Zoom. Couples and small groups of friends can also book private classes.

Alongside private yoga, yogabrum is equally well known for corporate yoga in Birmingham. Having worked in recruitment for 13 years prior to teaching yoga, Katy is very familiar with the mental and physical pressures of corporate life and now helps businesses improve and maintain the wellbeing of their employees through workplace yoga.

Her client list includes the University of Birmingham, Midland Heart, Birmingham City Council, the 2022 Commonwealth Games, The AA, and Legal & General. Available class styles include hatha yoga, chair yoga, desk yoga, breathwork, and meditation. Sessions can take place in offices throughout the West Midlands or online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

The biggest advantage of working with yogabrum is that, unlike attending a yoga studio, classes can be completely tailored to the needs of the individual or business. Clients can also enjoy the convenience and comfort of practising in their own home or workplace.

The main limitations are availability, cost, and location. Yogabrum operates during standard business hours, so it may not suit those looking for evening or weekend classes. Private and corporate yoga classes are generally more expensive than attending a yoga studio, and in-home private classes are primarily available to clients located in or near Harborne and Edgbaston.

Pros

  • Suitable for all ages and abilities
  • Ideal for beginners
  • Bespoke classes tailored to your goals
  • Classes in your own home or workplace

Cons

  • Weekday/daytime classes only
  • More expensive than going to a yoga studio

I would definitely recommend Katy for a corporate yoga class!

Katy was recommended to me as the best person to run a chair yoga session for my division’s corporate ‘away day’. The entire process of organising the session was so smooth; Katy responded to emails quickly, provided all necessary information, and was accommodating and flexible to our requests. The session itself went very well; Katy was an excellent teacher, and adapted to the room (as we had certain logistical restrictions in the venue). Multiple attendees commented how they had enjoyed it, thought it was valuable, and appreciated how Katy answered their questions and provided variations. I would definitely recommend Katy for a corporate yoga class!

It’s simply brilliant.

Yoga has become one of the highlights of my week. I have a job that keeps me on my feet all day and between that and spending more time in gym, tight joints and a sore back have been an issue for a while. Skip forward a few months and these issues continue to dwindle with progress being made in my overall balance, fitness and mental wellbeing.
To say I would recommend trying yoga with Katy would be an understatement. It’s simply brilliant.

2. I AM YOGI

Website: iamyogi.co.uk

Address: Moseley Park & Pool, 93B Alcester Rd, Birmingham B13 8DD, UK

Contact: [email protected] | Contact web form

Schedule: Monday & Wednesday 9:30AM–8:30PM | Tuesday & Thursday 7:00AM–8:30PM | Friday 9:30AM–7:15PM | Saturday 8:30AM–5:00PM | Sunday 9:00AM–6:00PM

If you’re used to training with a personal trainer at the gym, practicing under trees definitely brings a different kind of energy to your routine. I AM YOGI runs sessions out of a custom-built wooden cabin inside a local park, which already differentiates it from other indoor studios.

They also offer a free introductory class for new students, so you can try it out without committing anything upfront.

Their program is structured like a progression system, starting with basic foundations and moving into more advanced postures over time.

One nice touch is that they provide all the equipment (mats, blocks, everything) so you don’t need to bring your own gear. There’s also a small welcoming detail we like: you get free herbal tea when you arrive.

They occasionally run pop-up sessions in different urban locations, which keeps things from feeling repetitive and adds variety for regular attendees.

The main drawback is their class credit bundles, which come with strict expiration dates. If you don’t attend regularly, those limits can feel a bit restrictive.

Pros

  • Progressive class structuring
  • Free equipment use
  • Dedicated site management
  • Targeted flexibility focus

Cons

  • Strict credit expiration
  • Short drop-in validity

Gorgeous space, but Flow+ lacked challenge.

It was my first time at I am Yogi – I’m new to Birmingham. The place is gorgeous, the space and facilities are nice and communication was easy. However, I like a challenging class and when I read the Flow+ was going to have inversions and arm balances I expected a bit more of the class, some more funky shapes. I self practice ashtanga yoga, so sometimes I like to go to an advanced flow class to experience poses that don’t normally do. I’ll still come back and try out other classes though!

Three years of feeling stronger and peaceful.

I’ve been attending yoga classes at I AM YOGI for around three years now. After every session I leave feeling more stronger, peaceful and grounded. I would highly recommend the cabin, teachers and I AM YOGI community to anyone and everyone!

3. Yoga Borne Ltd

Address: 1406-1408 Pershore Rd, Stirchley, Birmingham B30 2PH, UK

Contact: +44 7854 313114

Schedule: Monday 11:15AM, 6:15PM & 7:30PM | Tuesday 6:00PM & 7:45PM | Wednesday 7:30AM & 6:15PM | Thursday 6:15PM | Friday 9:30AM, 5:15PM & 6:15PM | Saturday 9:30AM | Sunday 9:30AM & 5:00PM

Building a real sense of community seems to be a major priority for Yoga Borne Ltd.

They also organize holistic events like indie markets and ceremonial gatherings, on top of yoga classes. This makes the whole experience feel more like a lifestyle space than just a studio.

Their schedule also shifts seasonally, which keeps things aligned with natural rhythms rather than staying fixed year-round.

From what one of our researchers experienced at a winter restorative flow, the atmosphere is genuinely welcoming. Classes are kept intentionally small, which helps avoid that crowded, impersonal studio feel and makes the sessions more relaxed overall.

Their trial pass is also pretty generous, giving you 20 full days of practice without locking you into a long-term commitment. You also get access to premium props like bolsters and blankets at no extra cost, which adds to the comfort.

That said, you really have to stay organized with your appointments. They enforce a strict cancellation window, and you can lose credits if you miss it.

Pros

  • All-inclusive premium amenities
  • Flexible hybrid streaming
  • No-commitment trial pass
  • Accessible postpartum flows

Cons

  • Unyielding cancellation cutoff
  • Lengthy termination notice

A wonderful gem blending spiritual and physical.

A wonderful yoga gem in Stirchley. I’ve done several different classes since I first joined Yoga Borne last year. All the teachers are great – supportive, knowledgeable and fun! Yoga Borne blends the spiritual and the physical perfectly, and I haven’t felt this good in years. A truly adorable group of students that make all the lessons feel inclusive, and the Yoga Borne team make everything very easy. I feel like I have not just improved my health across the board, but I have also joined a warm and friendly community. Highly recommended!

Lovely, welcoming, clean, and calming studio.

I joined last week and have been to 2 classes so far. I’ve been practicing yoga for 3 years consistently in the local leisure centre but needed a change. It is such a lovely and welcoming studio, clean and calming – thank you! Excited to do more classes.

4. Kings Heath Yoga with Yogi Claire

Website: yogi-claire.co.uk

Address: Methodist Church, Cambridge Rd, Birmingham B13 9UE, UK

Contact: [email protected]

Schedule: Monday 6:00PM–7:00PM | Wednesday 6:30PM–7:30PM | Friday 9:30AM–10:30AM | Saturday 9:30AM–10:45A

Yogi Claire built her teaching style around seasonal changes and lunar cycles, which gives the practice a more reflective rhythm. Her slow-flow sequences also incorporate elements like mudras alongside breathwork and movement.

She also runs immersive weekend retreats in places like the Brecon Beacons, which are a clear step up if you want a full break from city life.

For something more flexible, her online platform offers a large on-demand video library, so you can practice without committing to a recurring subscription.

The booking structure is pretty straightforward as well. You buy short-term passes instead of being locked into ongoing payments, which works well for irregular schedules.

The trade-off is flexibility at the point of booking. Live classes and workshops are strictly non-refundable once reserved, so you really need to be sure about your availability.

You’ll also need to bring your own mat, since it isn’t provided at the venue.

Pros

  • Commitment-free digital access
  • Highly tailored private events
  • Flexible short-notice transfers
  • Extensive on-demand library

Cons

  • Strictly non-refundable bookings
  • Mandatory personal equipment

Inspiring and informative unique yoga classes.

I have been attending Claire’s yoga class for over a year now. Claire combines guided yoga practice with music, literature, and attention to the changing seasons in an inspiring and informative way. Each class is unique due to the care and attention she puts into planning it. She often provides options for different yoga movements and encourages attendees to focus on what works for them each time. She takes care setting up the physical space to ensure it is relaxing environment for everyone. Her classes will suit beginners, people returning to yoga after a break, and more experienced practitioners.

Passionate teacher, great physically and emotionally.

Claire is a lovely yoga teacher!  She is passionate about ensuring her classes are well thought out and considers every part of the body, mind and soul.  I have been to various studios and retreats that Claire has run and always leave the class feeling good physically and emotionally. Claire is very non judgemental and gives plenty of options to ensure everyone can join in at whatever level feels right for them.  I would definitely recommend that you give one of her classes a try!

5. Yoga Hart

Website: yogahart.co.uk

Address: 85 Vicarage Rd, Harborne, Birmingham B17 0SR, United Kingdom

Contact: 07866 481954 | [email protected]

Schedule: Tuesday 9:30AM–10:30AM | Wednesday 9:30AM–10:30AM, 7:15PM–8:15PM | Thursday 11:30AM–12:30PM, 5:45PM–7:00PM

Finding a quiet space in the city can be difficult, but Yoga Hart has a custom-built garden setting that makes the experience feel noticeably more peaceful. Abi, the founder, designed it as a purpose-built sanctuary with a strong focus on anatomical support rather than general fitness.

A big part of their work centers on pelvic floor health and postpartum recovery, which gives the teaching a very specific, supportive direction.

Group sessions are kept intentionally small, so you actually get individual feedback instead of being lost in a crowd.

The space itself also adds to the experience, with underfloor heating that keeps things comfortable during colder morning sessions. They even offer a free first live class, which makes it easy to try without pressure.

They also organize pre-class social check-ins for expectant mothers, which helps build a more supportive community feel.

That said, it’s worth checking the requirements before signing up. Some classes expect you to move between standing and floor work independently, without assistance.

Pros

  • Cozy underfloor heating
  • Strong pre-class networking
  • Highly bespoke private flows
  • Curated advanced music playlists

Cons

  • Firm mobility prerequisites
  • High fitness event demands

Special space and community for three years.

I discovered Yoga Hart (and Abi) when I was pregnant and looking for some gentle movement. I only wish I’d found these classes sooner, because they offer so much more than movement alone. Abi is not only a fantastic yoga teacher, she’s created a truly special space and community that I’ve now been part of for nearly three years. I still try to attend at least once a week.

Crucial help during pregnancy and postpartum.

Abi is amazing! I started attending her pregnancy yoga classes and fell in love with it, so ended up going to mum & baby yoga classes with my son from 3 months postpartum and now do the postnatal yoga classes! I also do her yoga nidra class each month and have also attended two of the recent retreats. Abi’s classes have been a huge help to me both during pregnancy and postpartum, and I’m not sure I would have coped well without them! I also have a newfound love for all things yoga so thank you Abi! Would highly recommend.
