5 Best Solar Panel Companies in Birmingham for Smarter Energy Savings
I only started thinking seriously about solar after my roofing contractor casually suggested it. Suddenly, my roof wasn’t just keeping the rain out; it could start earning its keep too.
Of course, finding the right installer turned out to be less straightforward than the sales brochures make it sound. Between panel types, certifications, warranties, and wildly different quotes, there’s plenty to compare.
So I looked into local specialists, checked credentials, and weighed up customer feedback. Here’s my shortlist of the best solar panels in Birmingham for homes and businesses looking to make the switch.
How much do solar panels cost in Birmingham?
A fully installed residential solar panel system in Birmingham typically costs around £5,000 to £9,000. The final price depends largely on your property size, system capacity, and household energy use.
A 3 kW system for a small one- or two-person home costs roughly £5,500 to £6,500. The estimated payback period is around 9 to 10 years.
For a medium home with three or four people, a 4 kW system generally costs £6,500 to £7,500. You could expect it to pay for itself in roughly 8 to 9 years.
Larger households or homes with EVs may need a 5 kW system, costing about £7,500 to £9,000. The estimated payback period drops to around 7 to 8 years.
Businesses needing 10 kW or more can expect to spend approximately £11,500 to £14,500. These larger systems may have a payback period of about 6 to 7 years.
1. Solar Panel Installers UK (Birmingham)

Address: 52 Locking Croft
Contact: 0118 338 5065 / [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8 AM – 6 PM
What I like about Solar Panel Installers UK is that they don’t seem eager to throw a generic system at every roof. Their engineer-led process looks at roof structure, shading, electrical capacity, and energy use before recommending a setup.
That makes sense for Birmingham homes, where older roofs and awkward orientations can complicate things quickly. They’re MCS certified too, with NICEIC-approved electrical expertise behind the installations.
I’d especially appreciate the more technical approach if I wanted clear reasoning behind the system size rather than a sales pitch. It feels more measured and less like buying solar from a glossy brochure.
The catch is that they’re a nationwide company, not a small Birmingham-only installer.
Their tailored quoting process may also feel slower if you just want quick package prices upfront.
2. Solar Panels Birmingham

Address: 1, Izabella House, 24-26 Regent Pl
Contact: 07488 891569 / [email protected]
Hours: Available 24/7
Solar Panels Birmingham keeps the first step fairly simple. You share your property details, and they connect you with a vetted local installer for a tailored quote.
That can be handy if you’d rather not spend an evening ringing half of Birmingham yourself. Their site also covers practical points like roof pitch, shading, and flat-roof setups, which helps you know what to expect.
If your roof needs work first, I’d sort that with one of the best roofing contractors in Birmingham before getting too excited about panels. Solar won’t magically make a tired roof less tired.
The main drawback is that Solar Panels Birmingham is a referral service, not the crew doing the installation.
Your details may be passed to a third-party installer, so it’s not ideal if you want to compare several contractors yourself from the start.
3. Westinghouse Electrical and Solar

Address: 9 Tetley Road
Contact: 07749 701970 / [email protected]
Hours: Monday 7 AM–10 PM, Tuesday 8 AM–10 PM, Wednesday–Friday 7 AM–10 PM, Saturday–Sunday 9 AM–10 PM
Westinghouse Electrical and Solar approaches solar from an electrical-first angle.
Their team handles solar panels, batteries, EV chargers, and wider electrical work, which is handy if your setup needs more than panels bolted to a roof.
They’re NICEIC and MCS approved, and they say installations are handled by their own electricians rather than passed around to subcontractors. That direct approach should appeal if you’d rather deal with one technical team from survey to installation.
The broader electrical background is a nice bonus too, especially for homes with older wiring or plans for battery storage later.
It feels less like a solar sales pitch and more like proper electrical planning.
One caveat is that the current Ltd company is relatively new. Its Companies House record has also shown a proposal to strike off, so I’d check the latest status before committing.
Friendly Team and a Smooth, Professional Installation
We recently worked with Westinghouse Electrical and Solar for our center’s solar panel installation, and we couldn’t be happier. Their team was approachable, always available, and exceptionally knowledgeable, answering all our questions with ease.
The installation was professional and clean, with the team ensuring everything was spotless each day. They were also incredibly friendly and courteous to everyone at our centre.
Westinghouse Electrical and Solar exceeded our expectations in every way. We would definitely choose them again for future projects. Highly recommended!

4. Edanpower Ltd

Address: Leslie Square, Office 24 Block C, Paper Mill End, Great Barr
Contact: 0121 399 0023 / [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5:30 PM | Saturday, 9 AM – 2 PM
What caught my eye with Edanpower is how neatly they combine solar panels with battery storage and smart-tariff planning. That makes the setup feel less like a roof upgrade and more like a proper household energy strategy.
They’re MCS and NICEIC accredited, with HIES and TrustMark listed among their credentials.
Their systems can work alongside flexible tariffs too, which is handy if you want to make better use of cheaper off-peak electricity.
Installation times are fairly brisk as well, with most residential jobs typically taking around one to three days. Some of their popular panels are advertised with warranties of up to 30 years.
The catch is that quotes are only valid for 30 days, so you can’t mull things over forever.
They don’t provide solar-panel cleaning either, so that’s one bit of upkeep you’ll need to arrange elsewhere.
Great Service From Start to Finish
Just had solar panels installed by Edan Power and it has been a good experience from start to finish.
A big thanks to Rakesh, who I dealt with from day one.
He has been outstanding and worthy of recognition.
Having said that, every other person I have dealt with at the company has been excellent.
Thoroughly recommend this company.

Competitive Price and Patient Support Throughout
Very good experience with Edanpower. Got 14 solar panels, Tesla Powerwall & expansion with gateway installed. Price was very good, and they also price-matched. Rakesh was really good, and they were the only company to come and visit the property physically. G99 was properly handled. My DNO took a really long time for the approval, and they were very patient. I do think the post-install communication can be a bit better, but I would still rate them highly.
They even supported me nicely with a post-install technical problem from Tesla.
Overall, a happy customer. 👍👍

5. Solar Panels Funded

Address: Digbeth Court Business Centre, 162-164 High St
Contact: 0121 340 3350 / [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8 AM – 6 PM
Solar Panels Funded makes the money side of solar a little less intimidating. They connect customers with trusted installers while helping them explore funding and payment options.
Their tailored quotes cover the proposed setup, projected savings, and how you might pay for it.
If solar is part of a bigger renovation, I’d coordinate the timing with one of the best builders in Birmingham first.
They can also help organise practical steps such as surveys, DNO applications, installation, and monitoring through their wider service network. That’s handy if you’d rather not juggle several companies yourself.
The catch is that partner installers carry out the physical work rather than one in-house crew.
And despite the company name, some offers involve finance rather than grants, so check the funding terms carefully.
