Create your next hit at the 5 best recording studios in Birmingham
A musician friend of ours recently reached out, asking if we knew any great recording studios in Birmingham. He had some fresh tracks ready to go and was fed up with DIY setups that just didn’t capture his sound the way he wanted.
That got us thinking about how many other local artists and podcasters are out there, on the hunt for a place where creativity and quality come together.
So, we did our homework. We asked around, checked out various studios, and listened to samples to find the spot that truly delivers, offering great acoustics and top-notch equipment.
And with that, here’s our list of the best recording studios in the city that you definitely need to check out.
How much does it cost to rent a recording studio in Birmingham?
Renting a recording studio in Birmingham typically costs between £25 to £100 per hour. The final price depends on factors like the studio’s location, the equipment provided, and the time of day or week.
1. Birmingham Studios

Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Birmingham Studios is definitely one of our top choices for recording in the city, especially for artists who value flexibility, professionalism, and a chill atmosphere.
What we really appreciate is how each studio room is designed to meet different needs: Studio A features vocal booths with adjustable acoustics, Studio B is perfect for full bands with its spacious live room, and Studio C is complete with compact mixers and broadcast mics.
A friend of ours, who’s a producer, can’t get enough of their sound-treated drum room and often reserves it for tracking live kits.
Beyond that, they’ve got top-notch gear like Neumann mics, Universal Audio interfaces, and Apple M1 Macs loaded with Logic Pro and Pro Tools.
What’s more, their rates are pretty competitive, starting at £25 per hour. You can even rent equipment for use off-site.
Plus, the engineers are super helpful, always ready to adjust your setup or provide suggestions without being overbearing.
The only catch is that parking can be a bit of a hassle during busy times, especially if you’re bringing a lot of gear.

Well-managed and professional studio
“This is the best studio I’ve encountered here in Birmingham. It’s well managed and professional. Many thanks to Janis and Ervins for setting up, mixing and mastering a considerable amount of tracks on my new album. They listen, and hold a valuable space for artists and producers to convey their needs on a particular song. Great service.”

Pirate.com is the perfect spot for artists who appreciate convenience, flexibility, and 24/7 access.
We absolutely love the self-service setup. There’s no front desk, just a simple PIN code to get in, so you can stroll in and start recording at any hour you like.
Other than that, the studios are sleek and well-equipped. We checked out their Standard Recording Studio, which features industry essentials like an Audio-Technica AT2020 mic, a Focusrite interface, and dual monitors.
If you’re into mixing or jamming with your band, they also have DJ and rehearsal studios available.
A friend of ours recorded some vocals for a demo at 2 AM and was pleasantly surprised by how clean and quiet the space was.
Plus, all bookings are done online, making it super easy to modify or cancel if needed.
We also love the on-site vending machines that are stocked with essentials like guitar strings and drinks.
However, there’s no live technician on-site, so if you’re new to recording setups, be prepared for a bit of a learning curve.
The atmosphere is very friendly
“Very friendly staff and the security guards , customer service is excellent, Value for money on the drinks. The atmosphere is very friendly and has good vibes. I would highly recommend it to family, friends and other people.”

Robannas Studios is one of the longest-standing studios in Birmingham’s creative scene. We absolutely love how it unites musicians, producers, and performers all in one place.
We dropped by for a weekend jam session and were blown away by the size of the space. There are over 30 rehearsal and recording rooms, each featuring solid soundproofing and a gritty sound.
In addition to that, every studio is equipped with a full backline—drum kit, amps, mics, and a PA system.
Plus, they provide professional multi-track recording services in their main control room. It’s loaded with Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and a mix of vintage and modern equipment.
One of their regular clients, a member of a local metal band, swears by their live recording quality and has been booking monthly sessions here for more than a year.
The only downside is that some of the rooms could use a bit of a visual refresh. It’s all very functional, but don’t expect any sleek interiors or fancy lounge areas.
Lovely kit and atmosphere
“I’m a drummer for my band and this is our go to place. We love the kit and the atmosphere. It gives us a large amount of space to do what we need to do. Always look forward to coming here.”

Safe, secure, and great acoustic
“Great experience using this venue to practice. Safe, secure, great acoustic and good equipment. The Oxygen Rooms offered my friend and I a good deal as there were only two of us. The normal charge of £100 a month for 20 hours was given to us at £50 a month for 10 hours. Grateful for the opportunity to make a start on my open-mic career proper!”
