Zoom down slides at the 5 best water parks near Birmingham

Growing up, I learned that the ultimate escape doesn’t always require leaving the city. Sometimes, it’s all about splashing around with friends, racing down slides, or just floating lazily under a glass roof.

If you’re looking for fun things to do in Birmingham, whether to beat the heat or just enjoy a carefree day, water parks never disappoint.

So, for families on the hunt for weekend adventures or tourists looking to spice up their plans, I’ve put together a list of the best water parks in Birmingham that are definitely worth diving into.

Cliff Lakes Aqualand is a floating playground in the Midlands, just outside Birmingham. With over 30 giant inflatable obstacles, including balance beams, slides, and trampolines, it’s perfect for groups and individuals seeking an adrenaline rush.

Entry to Aqualand costs £18 per person for a 60-minute session. If you need a wetsuit, you can rent one for just £5 per session.

But the fun doesn’t stop at the water—you can also sign up for paddleboarding or open-water swimming. I appreciate that the sessions are supervised by lifeguards and organised by age groups to ensure a safe environment for kids and teens.

Plus, there’s a lovely lakeside cafe where you can unwind after all the splashing around.

Pro Tip:

If you’re planning to go on the weekend, be sure to book early. Slots often sell out, especially on sunny days.

2. Aztec Adventure Aqua Park

Aztec Adventure Aqua Park offers a thrilling water experience with its massive floating course. For just £18 to £22 per hour, you can climb towers, bounce on trampolines, navigate balance bars, and leap off splash platforms—all while wearing a buoyancy aid, which is included in the price.

This fun-filled adventure is perfect for children aged 6 and up (please note that the minimum height requirement is 122 cm and participants must be able to swim 25 meters).

The Aqua Park is fully accredited by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) UK, and trained lifeguards are on duty to ensure safety at all times.

Pro Tip:

Stick around for the last half-hour. The staff often reset obstacles and rearranges the floating blocks, giving you a chance to face some last-minute challenges before they close up for the day.

Alton Towers Waterpark offers a tropical escape packed with thrilling slides and fun play areas for everyone. You can soak in the Bubbly Wubbly hot tubs or take a ride on the Master Blaster watercoaster. There’s so much more to do than swim.

One of my favourites is the Wacky Waterworks Treehouse. It’s a multi-level play zone that keeps you on your toes with its sprays, tipping buckets, and water cannons.

Visitors can enjoy both indoor and outdoor attractions, like Flash Floods, an outdoor flume that’s a blast on sunny days.

Admission starts at £18 during off-peak times and can reach up to £22 on weekends or holidays. There are also discounted combo tickets if you’re staying at the resort.

Pro Tip:

Make sure to book online ahead of time. Not only will you save some cash, but those time slots can fill up quickly during school breaks.

Waterworld is an exciting indoor water park located near Birmingham. It offers 30 rides and attractions all under one roof, perfect for both families and adventure seekers.

Whether you’re twisting through the Space Bowl or catching some waves in the wave pool, there’s an adrenaline rush waiting for you at every turn.

If you book online, entry starts at £21.50 for adults, although peak-time tickets are slightly pricier.

Their latest addition, Outdoor Alpine Adventure, brings even more fun with its rapids and sunbeds. You shouldn’t miss their Nucleus ride either. It’s an indoor rollercoaster water slide that feels like you’re zooming through a sci-fi tunnel powered by water.

Pro Tip:

Head straight to the Nucleus or Stormchaser early to avoid long waits. Queues can get long after midday, especially on weekends and holidays.

Just a short drive from Birmingham, The Wave Waterpark in Coventry is full of excitement for the whole family. With six slides like the Cyclone, The Cascade, and The Torrent, each slide offers its unique turns and surprises.

You can also float along the lazy river, let the little ones enjoy the toddler-friendly splash zone, or unwind at the Mana Spa (which is just for adults).

I personally loved the Wave Pool. The waves were well-timed and powerful, which felt like being swept by real ocean waves.

When you need a break from all the excitement, the cafe has you covered with tasty options like hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fries, and refreshing slushies.

Pro Tip:

Make sure to check out the upper viewing gallery between your slide sessions. It’s a great spot to cool off, snap some fun photos, or cheer on your friends as they zoom down the slides.
